Consumption of Liquor in Public Places
SPSingh | Oct 8 2009

Of late lot of thinking has been done in the Delhi Govt. It looks that shortly there will be strict laws in place to this unchecked habit is put to an end. I think passing the law is one side of the coin the other side of the coin is equally important that is the enforcement of the law by law abiding force. I reside in U Unit where I can see the country liquor shop from my terrace and the ugly behavior of people.

Mostly this type of behavior comes from down trodden and poor people. Govt. will do a lot if some decent ways are devised so that these people also take their drinks with some respect. Let cheap Bars or eating joints are opened near the liquor vends so that some decency is maintained. Every this thing seems not working. Illegal Taxi stands, Bus Stand, Illegal shops and some time illegal activities too. All this is a loss of revenue to the State. All this could easily be converted in some sort of business model where State would earn revenue.

Often it has been seen that the law becomes the laughing stock since there is hardly any will to implement the law. If you implement it for getting money in your pocket then law does not mean any thing. We do talk of corruption but it is at all the places and in all walks of life. One should think first to book this menace then any thing else.

Small policemen can be seen taking bribes in broad day light. What can you do when the TOP of the ladder itself is involved in corruption? We are no 1 in corruption. I think it is rating which the country has earned since it has reached all levels.

Let the Games in October, 2010 bring some respite in law improvement in NCR and citizens feel little better. Think big if you have to go bigger: so let Delhi Govt. should go on doing some innovation in this field.
